We’d been looking forward to talking to Reverend William H. Lamar IV about how his church won the trademark to the Proud Boys, but the weekend before the interview, it suddenly occurred to us:
Wait. We’re about to talk to a Reverend and our podcast name has a curse word in it.
Luckily, Rev. Lamar didn’t just give us a pass — he said the name brought him “deep religious and theological joy.” He told Katie and LaFonda that we have to keep our sense of humor amidst all of the dehumanization we’re seeing right now. We agree!
