Some much-needed good news

PA showed up this week!

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania held a special election for a a state House and state Senate seat. We were expecting to win the House seat (and did), but everyone was expecting the Senate seat to go Republican. After all, this was a Republican-leaning district that had voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2024 — a seat that the GOP has controlled for decades. But Democrats beat the odds and James Andrew Malone won the election over his Republican opponent! It was an extremely close victory, with a margin of just under 1%, but one that’s making a huge impact on Pennsylvanians and Democrats across the country.

This win has shown us all that hope is possible. The odds were stacked against us, so in the midst of such a dark time, this win is like a ray of light. It shows that when we work together toward a common goal, we can defeat extremism.

In the words of our PA organizer Amanda: every vote, every conversation, and every effort matters.

So let’s take a moment to celebrate! We’re raising a glass to Amanda, all of our Red Wine & Blue organizers in Pennsylvania, and everyone else who helped make this victory possible. 🥂
