Unite For Springfield: ICE Out of Our Communities
An emergency community meeting
Last night, Red Wine & Blue held an emergency community meeting to support Springfield, Ohio against an impending ICE surge.
A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from ending protections for Haitians in Springfield, but the fight is far from over. The Department of Homeland Security says they are taking the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. 15,000 Haitians in Springfield could lose their status in a matter of weeks and ICE could surge.
Last night’s event was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people refuse to stay silent. In just one call, this community — through the Red Wine & Blue Education Fund — raised over $100,000 to support organizations on the ground working to protect and care for Haitian refugees in Springfield.
But we didn’t stop there.
Together, we sent more than 4,000 messages to Congress demanding they refuse to fund the Department of Homeland Security without real restrictions on ICE and extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians. And thousands flooded Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s office with messages calling on him to make his rhetoric match his actions and to stop Ohio law enforcement from cooperating with ICE as it raids our cities.
This is what accountability looks like.
These never-ending torrents of bad news - Epstein, ICE, Voting Etc. - is a demoralizing military tactic used to take down societies, and it is being fully deployed here.
Obama explains the lengths they are going to: "You just have to flood a country's public square with enough raw sewage, you just have to raise enough questions, spread enough dirt, plant enough conspiracy theorizing that citizens no longer know what to believe. Once they lose trust in their leaders, in mainstream media, in political institutions, in each other, in the possibility of "truth", the games won."
