Last week we told you about TroubleNation, our local organizing program with over 670 groups across the country. This week we are continuing with TroubleNation Tuesday and highlighting one of our local groups, Advocates, Allies & Activists.
Advocates, Allies & Activists is led by a passionate mother-daughter team, Arie Goodman and Kelsey Goodman Smith, who live in Ohio and Tennessee, respectively. They organize as a virtual community seeking to create a more democratic and just society by uniting individuals and organizations who share their core values.
Arie explains their mission:
“By centering the experiences of traditionally marginalized communities, particularly communities of color, we aim to educate, empower, and encourage civic engagement. Our goal is to address systemic injustices, in part, through intersectional advocacy.
Through activities that promote self-reflection and learning through a historical and intersectional lens, we strive to build a formidable coalition of Advocates, Allies & Activists who understand that true progress is only achieved when people collaborate across imposed divisions like race, religion, and gender.
If you value building a more equitable and just society, we invite you to join our community. Participate in our programming and bring a friend.”
Back in October, Arie Goodman was a guest on The Suburban Women Problem podcast. Click here to listen to her interview.
