This week, we were joined at our Unite For Springfield event (hosted by Red Wine & Blue Education Fund) by Reverend Ashley Horan, a minister and Minneapolis organizer who lives a block from where Renee Good was killed. We wanted to hear from her because the way Minnesotans have come together to stand against ICE is a model for cities across the country.
Rev. Ashley's remarks confirmed our theory that community is the key. She said that getting to know your neighbors, setting up block-level Signal chats, and even engaging with your local church, book club, or gym can help build a resilient community.
It’s tempting from the outside to think that Minnesotans are some kind of special superheroes, but they’re just everyday people helping their neighbors. Anyone, in any city, can band together to stand up to ICE.
Talk now with your neighbors about how you’ll mobilize if and when ICE comes to your town.
