These Moms Livestreamed Their Way To Victory
And Moms for Liberty lost... again
This week on our How To Not Lose Your Sh!t podcast, we heard an inspirational story about a couple of moms in Pennsylvania who were dealing with an extremist named Jennifer on their kids’ school board.
Not only was Jennifer’s husband a convicted pedophile, but she was also banning books and even insisting that immigrant children should be kicked out of the school district. She actually called them “those people.”
A petition to remove Jennifer from the school board received 70,000 signatures and press coverage, but she refused to step down. So two local moms, Shelley and Niki, took matters into their own hands. They bought a tripod and started streaming their school board meetings to Facebook, where their neighbors watched the chaos unfold in real time.
This was all happening in a conservative area where Republicans outnumber Democrats 3-1. So Niki and Shelley needed to assure their neighbors that this isn’t about political parties; it’s about common sense and taking care of kids rather than divisive culture wars.
And after months of hard work — livestreaming the meetings, talking to their neighbors, and helping good candidates with their campaigns — they celebrated amazing wins on Election Day. Not only did Jennifer lose her bid for re-election to the school board, commonsense candidates won all 5 open seats. Now, every one of the nine school board members in Oxford are working to protect all kids in the district instead of following the Moms for Liberty playbook!
Niki says, “I have peace of mind now. It’s like a weight has been lifted that we have good people on the board.”
And it all started with two moms and a tripod.
