These Moms Are Getting Arrested to Protect Gender-Affirming Care for Their Kids
That's what being a mother is all about
Moms will do whatever it takes to protect their kids, even if it means getting arrested.
More than 50 protesters, including moms, grandparents, and healthcare providers, blocked the entrance to the Department of Health and Human Services to oppose federal efforts to restrict gender-affirming care.
Twenty-five people were arrested.
At the center of the protest: a proposed policy that would cut federal funding to hospitals providing this care, putting programs and access at risk nationwide. As a result, some hospitals have already begun shutting down programs.
As these bans and dangerous rhetoric worsen, families are left confused about what care they can access, even in states where gender affirming care is protected.
On top of everything else, parents worry about the world their children are growing up in.
I have seen firsthand that gender-affirming care is life-saving for teenagers.
