The Power of Local Women Turn Community Into Action
Meet the group who raised $10,000 to help feed local families facing food insecurity
Last year, Jess Schaer launched PWC Women that Wine, a local RWB Network group focused on bringing women together to make a positive impact in Prince William County, Virginia.
Within months, they organized the first-ever PWC Hunger-Free food drive to support the 43% of households that experience food insecurity in their county.
In its first year, the event raised $5,000. This year, the group doubled its impact, raising more than $10,000 to help support the greater Prince William County community.
And they didn't do it alone.
PWC Women that Wine partnered with a countywide coalition that included Indivisible NOVA West, the Latino Advocacy Network of the DMV, and local elected officials, showing what's possible when neighbors come together to solve problems and support one another.

For Jess and PWC Women that Wine, this is only the beginning.
With continued SNAP benefit cuts and the rising cost of living, food insecurity remains a pressing issue. The group is committed to continuing the work, building community, and taking action to ensure more families have the support they need.
PWC Women that Wine is just one of hundreds of Red Wine & Blue Network groups doing important, community-focused work across the country. If you’re interested in finding a Network group in your community or starting a new group, check out our Red Wine & Blue Network page!

Wow. A few caring citizens can make such a huge difference in people's lives.
Good work! I'm curious. Are there other PWC groups?
Our small town in MA has just begun a grass-root group of women interested in helping other women in our town.
