Tell it to the Cardboard Congressman
Rep. Moore (R-NC) Was a No-Show – But His Cardboard Cutout Heard Families Demand Medicaid Protection
Mother Stacy Staggs has relied on Medicaid to provide care for her medically complex child, who needed private nursing, at-home medical equipment, formula, and additional assistance. She refers to her 12-year-old as a “Medicaid success story.”
Now, the mother worries that federal cuts to Medicaid and a state-level funding shortfall will impact families like hers who rely on the service for essential care.
So, what did Stacy do?
She shared her story at a Red Wine & Blue event, which gave constituents of Republican Rep. Tim Moore a chance to voice concerns about community issues.
More than a dozen residents spoke at the event, discussing everything from tariffs impacting North Carolina soybean farmers to the rising cost of living.
Rep. Moore was invited to the event, but he chose not to attend.
So, instead, residents spoke to the next best thing – a cardboard cut-out of Moore.
We will continue to host more forums and invite Moore.
However, until then, the cardboard cut-out will serve as a stark reminder of Moore’s absence and his failure to listen to his constituents.
