Every week we remark on “another week of chaos from the Trump administration” and here we are again. The news is coming out so quickly that it can be hard to keep up. Every week we bring you a few news stories that matter to suburban women that you might have missed.
Justice Dept. Signals It Will End Challenge to Idaho Abortion Ban
The RWB Take: Idaho’s abortion ban is dangerous for any women who are pregnant in the state. Under the Biden administration, Attorney General Merrick Garland challenged the Idaho ban, which was currently on hold as it worked it’s way through the federal appellate courts. With the case dropped under President Trump’s administration, Idaho can resume it’s near total ban on abortions, which has resulted in several women being air lifted out of the state for emergency, live-saving abortion care. It is not okay that women in Idaho are unable to get live-saving treatment while losing a pregnancy.
‘I don’t feel safe’: Trump’s passport gender policy sparks fear for trans travelers
The RWB Take: President Trump signed an executive order that reversed previous policy allowing transgender, non-binary and intersex people to select an X or choose their gender on their passport. Now as people apply for new passports or try to change their gender on their passport, they are discovering huge delays in getting a passport. Which means that many trans, non-binary and intersex Americans are unable to travel internationally while waiting for their updated documents. This is just one more way that the federal government is being weaponized against the trans population.
Trump wants to dismantle the Department of Education. Here’s what the agency does.
The RWP Take: President Trump has made his intentions clear — he wants to dismantle the Department of Education. So what exactly does the Department of Education do? It ensures equal access to education, provides funding for students living in poverty, disburses student loans, funds education programs for disabled and students with learning challenges. The Department of Education provides so many vital services to ensuring equal education and opportunity for America’s students. As suburban women we know how important public education and we vow to fight for it.

Any abortion ban is bad...i believe that everyone has a choice and should be allowed to make that choice...all women should have control of her body, and be allowed to make the choice that is right for her....The Department of education is very important, but a lot if people don't realize what they do....dismantling it would be very bad for a lot of students, are we expected to go back to the dark ages where no one could read, disabled and special ed students did not get an education? That is just wrong in so many ways. What needs to be dismantled is Cheeto and Melon Husk.....just saying. Thank for all the information you share and all that you do!!
