A Moms' Rave for Democracy
Where else but at Red Wine & Blue?
Last month, a bar in Seattle hosted a rave. It wasn’t for teenagers with glow sticks or diehard fans of some European DJ — it was for moms who wanted to support immigrants in their community.
Ballard Families for Democracy is a Red Wine & Blue Network group that’s making political engagement fun for themselves and their neighbors. They’re strengthening connections in their community and sharing trusted sources of information for busy parents like themselves.
Their Mom’s Night Out dance party wasn’t just loads of fun — it raised $2200 for Democracy Forward and the Northwest Immigrants’ Rights Project.
And they’re not stopping at a moms’ rave. Next week, they’re holding a family-friendly No Kings Day protest at a local playground. A rave one month and a playdate protest the next? Sign us up!
You may have heard that Red Wine & Blue has been partnering this year with inspiring women like Jessica Yellin of News Not Noise and Shannon Watts of Bonfire. Danielle’s group, born of the News Not Noise/Network partnership, is an inspiring example of what can happen when women join together for a good cause.
We’ll be announcing more about our partnership with Shannon Watts next week, so stay tuned! If you want to join or start a Red Wine & Blue Network group, you can learn more here.
