Facing pressure from thousands of Red Wine & Blue members and so many others who care about our public schools, the Trump administration announced that it’ll finally release the entire $6.8 billion in education funding it had been withholding.
The Trump administration froze the money on June 30 to allow for the White House's Office of Management and Budget to review. Russell Vought — an extremist and one of the authors of Project 2025 — is in charge of that office, so there was real concern that the funds would never make it to the school districts across America that need it. But starting this week, schools will be receiving the money they need to provide after-school programs, teacher training, and support for English language learners.
We told the Trump administration we wouldn't stand for its anti-family, anti-immigrant, anti-diversity policies, and they folded. This victory shows just how powerful we can be when we raise our voices!
But make no mistake, we won’t forget the damage that’s been done. Several districts have had to freeze hiring or make cuts already because of the uncertainty surrounding this funding. That's why we can't let up.
There’s nothing the badass women of Red Wine & Blue can't do when we work together, and we need to hold our leaders accountable for allowing the Trump administration to mess with our kids' education in the first place.
We have so much to do, but for now, let's celebrate this good news. Don't ever underestimate the power of your voice when you're willing to speak out.
Yay!!!!!
